Mher Krikorian, Head of Content, Netizency: Layal is a creative thinker.  She is involved with different creative projects across different industries and is always up for a new challenge, Akiki can handle projects under minimal supervision and always takes the lead, she always goes the extra mile and adds her touch, comes up with great ideas. Her confidence is inspiring and her bubbly personality makes working with her pure joy!

Career highlights

Layal Akiki is a Lebanese filmmaker whose journey took her from studying and teaching Math, to finding her passion in Cinema, and to finally discovering the joy of Animation.

She earned her Master’s Degree in Film Directing from the Lebanese University in 2018, graduating at the top of her class. Her Short Film “Pick Me Up” has toured over 20 festivals worldwide and has won several awards including Best Director, Best Short Film, and the First Prize in Cinemaiyyat 2019.

She has recently found her happy place in animation, working as a Motion Graphics Animator at Netizency.

Guiding principles

A true believer that aspiring to success is to build one’s career on passion, dedication, and ongoing learning.

After a full career change, I learned that in order to excel, you must truly love what you do, and embrace being in a constant state of becoming.

Side hustle

Recently I started recording VO’s for different projects and helping my friends with their projects if I finished my deadlines (which rarely happens)
