Established in 2021, founder Samer Mashal wanted to fuse his three favourite elements – film, sport and history – to create a single, revolutionary café and roastery. Notorious is a haven for coffee lovers to enjoy a cup of Joe over nostalgia-filled memorabilia from sports, rock n roll and Hollywood.
Delving into coffee beans from exotic Brazil’s Yellow Bourbon and organically grown Ethiopian Guji coffee associating flavours such as dark chocolate, peaches and nectarine sourced from cooperatives and individual farms, Notorious roasts their beans right here in the UAE to maximize freshness.
Taking pride in not just being the average run-of-the-mill café, Notorious stocks collectables worth looking out for. The café also serves as an art gallery with memorabilia that attracts customers to the Abu Dhabi based spot from all over the UAE. The founder’s passion for collectables is evident from the establishment’s stylish décor and cosy interiors, Notorious also caters to special orders for collectables and memorabilia from their customers.
In addition to being a speciality coffee serving café that is also a roastery, one of Notorious’ USPs is that they provide memorabilia/collectables at the café which can be purchased immediately or if a client is looking for something in specific, say something signed by the Beatles or a football signed by Cristiano Ronaldo, the Notorious team is able to source this. Prior to the launch of Notorious, Samer has always had a passion for sports, history and film and thus his first venture was called Le Vault – where he used to source and sell collectables, thus he’s been in this space for a while and can comment on what the Collectible Culture is like in the UAE.
